Summary:

Humans crave certainty. Both in our personal and professional lives. But if we've learned anything in the last several years, the world tends to give us anything but that. We are often looking for certainty when planning at work. We want to feel confident when communicating plans and progress. This often leads to heavier planning efforts. Yet, in software development, uncertainty abounds and the common response to “plan more” doesn’t typically help move us forward. In this session, you'll learn techniques that you can use to help your team plan and navigate through uncertainty. We’ll cover planning at multiple levels (roadmaps, release and daily plans) and discuss techniques to help your team move forward even when there are many unknowns. 

Speaker Bio: 

Jodi Jones is an agile software delivery practitioner and coach at Lean TECHniques. She is an accomplished IT professional with a proven track record leading software development teams with a focus on improving product development and delivery using agile techniques. Her background includes software development and delivery, project leadership, team leadership, and coaching. Jodi is a change enthusiast with a passion to make organizations and the Des Moines technology community a great place to work for technology professionals. She has been a central figure in the Des Moines tech scene and has done invaluable work in organizing events, user groups and conferences. She is currently working on the 2023 DevOpsDays Des Moines and Agile Iowa conference and assisting with the DevOpsDays Global Organizer summit.
