Know Thy Stakeholders – The Art of Managing Expectations with Kevin Rose
Stakeholders! They want what they want and you can’t change their minds… or can you? The BABOK gives us a list of 11 generic stakeholder roles and tells us these are the roles most likely to participate in the execution of a task … or be affected by it.
Frequently, we are in a rush to deliver a solution to the Sponsor’s request. We rarely take the time to properly identify stakeholders, yet stakeholder management is a key to the success of any project. How you handle them can be the difference between getting the work done and getting a value from the work. Join Kevin in exploring the 11 generic stakeholders in the BABOK while also learning the subtle (and not so subtle) techniques to manage stakeholder expectations.
Kevin Rose has worked in a multitude of IT and Business roles over the last 20 years. From application developer to project manager to business analyst, he has worn many hats over the years. After moving to Des Moines in 2006, he has spent his time working and living in West Des Moines where he enjoys walking across frozen parking lots and avoiding rush hour traffic. Kevin may even be a familiar face to some in IIBA having been on the CIC Board for a number of years. Those that know him, know that he can talk … and talk… and talk. Sometimes he even says something interesting! He assures us that this is one of those times.
